Welcome to Cinelândia and Santa Teresa...
Get ready to embark on an unforgettable journey through the cultural heart of Rio de Janeiro: the transformation of the city through Cinelândia and an immersion in the bucolic neighborhood of Santa Teresa!

Cinelândia, an iconic meeting point, reflects the city's rich artistic and architectural heritage, being a must-visit landmark for visitors. Santa Teresa, with its narrow winding streets, is a true haven for art, history, and gastronomy lovers. Our tour offers a deep and captivating immersion, highlighting not only the beauty of the place, but also the importance of a decolonial narrative that values diversity and cultural resistance.

‌Beginning of the Journey: Urban Reforms

‌Our tour starts with a contemplative and reflective look at Rio de Janeiro in the early 20th century, when the city was invaded by Western ideals and was part of movements of resistance and expulsion of the poor population residing in the central region. In addition, we will address the functions of the current historical buildings for society.
‌‌Next, we will board the famous Santa Teresa tram. This historic mode of transportation winds through the hills of the neighborhood, providing stunning views of the city and a glimpse into the daily lives of local residents. During the journey, you will learn about the history of the tram and its importance to the neighborhood's identity.

‌Our journey continues through the hill of Santa Teresa, where history and culture intertwine at every corner. The cobblestone streets and centuries-old houses tell stories of times past, while the panoramic views of the city and Guanabara Bay delight the eyes. In this part of the tour, we will address the importance of the decolonial vision, reflecting on how architecture and urbanization have been influenced by various cultures over the centuries.

‌‌‌We will disembark at the vibrant Largo dos Guimarães, the pulsating heart of Santa Teresa. This place is known for its colorful houses, craft shops, and cozy bars.

‌Here, you will have the opportunity to explore the local culture from a decolonial perspective, understanding the historical and social importance of this neighborhood that has been, and continues to be, a stage for cultural resistance and diversity.
Next, we will visit the emblematic Parque das Ruínas. This old mansion is now a cultural center that offers a stunning panoramic view of the city. The park is a symbol of resistance and transformation, showing how historic spaces can be reimagined and reused to celebrate contemporary art and culture.

‌And no visit to Santa Teresa would be complete without experiencing its famous gastronomy. We will make strategic stops at charming bars and nooks, where you can taste delicious typical Brazilian snacks.
