About the script: The Porto region, at Praça Mauá, which underwent recent reurbanization for the 2016 Olympics and now houses the Museum of Tomorrow and the MAR - Rio Art Museum. Our walk begins in front of the MAR Museum where we discuss the gentrification processes of the region, reading the landscape as a historical and social construction. We head to Largo São Francisco da Prainha discussing the complex system of the enslaved market in the region, the cycles of sugar cane, coffee, and gold, and we will bring the story of the classical dancer, Mercedes Baptista.

Through tourism, I have been working to attribute our cultural capital to its founders historically disadvantaged by colonialism, valuing the narratives, protagonisms, and knowledge originating from our African and indigenous heritage.
