TOUR "LITTLE AFRICA": GET TO KNOW THE BEHIND THE SCENES OF BLACK HISTORY IN BRAZIL

Rio de Janeiro, besides having been the Imperial Capital, holds many traces of slavery and the history of blacks in Brazil. Therefore, the "Little Africa" tour is essential to better understand this history, which is little publicized in the media and schools.

The tour aims to show the transformations that the City of Rio underwent since the arrival of the Royal Family in 1808, especially the reforms of Pereira Passos in the 20th century, as well as to bring to the public knowledge important information about the real contribution of blacks to the history of Brazil. CULTURE AND HISTORY

During the tour, the place where the carioca samba was born will be visited, which today is a stronghold of Afro culture and Afro-Brazilian religions, named "Little Africa" by Heitor dos Prazeres.

The visit to the former slave market facilitates understanding of how the formation of the first favela in Brazil later occurred; next, the port that received and distributed the largest number of slaves in the Americas will be visited, as well as the Museum of Pretos Novos, where undeniable archaeological evidence testifies to what slavery was like in Brazil.
